What is Wolfberry Extract?
Wolfberry, also known as goji berry, is the fruit of Lycium barbarum and Lycium chinense, two nearly affiliated species of boxthorn grown in China and corridor of Asia. Wolfberries have been used for over 2,000 times in China both as a food and herbal drug.
Wolfberry extract is prepared by hot water extraction or ethanol extraction of ripe wolfberries. It's rich in bioactive ingredients similar as polysaccharides(L. barbarum polysaccharides), carotenoids, zeaxanthin, flavonoids, cerebrosides, betaine, and trace minerals. These composites give wolfberry its antioxidant, immunomodulating,anti-aging, and other remedial goods.Wolfberry extract powder has a deep reddish-orange color. It is available in spray-dried powder or liquid extract form. The powder is standardized to contain certain percentages of polysaccharides and phenolics. The liquid extract has a concentration ratio ranging from 4:1 to 20:1.
